Department of Plastic Surgery, University of Ulsan College of Medicine, Asan Medical Center has progressed during the last 30 years and made remarkable accomplishments in its quality and quantity of practice and academical provinces. Our department tries to do our best to play a main role in Korea's Plastic Surgery. Jong Woo Choi takes the director of the department chief of the class in 2018. With the opening of the new building in 2008, outpatient clinic moved to the new building and expanded the aesthetic clinic so that various cosmetic surgeries can be performed. The new outpatient clinic comprises cleft lip/palate clinic, breast reconstruction and aesthetic surgery clinic, facial palsy clinic, rhinoplasty clinic, clinic of reconstruction of the extremities, Diabetic foof clinic. Especially with the cleft lip/palate clinic, over 200 patients take the chieloplasty, palatoplasty, and correction of the alveolar cleft every year. Clinic of head and neck reconstruction cooperates with the department of ENT and Neurosurgery and plays major role in reconstruction of the head and neck following the resection of the cancer. Breast reconstruction and aesthetic surgery clinic cooperates with the department of Oncology and Radiation Oncology and reconstructs the breast immediately after the mastectomy for the cancer. Until now, over 7000 cases of reconstruction were successfully made and the sense of loss in female patient was greatly relieved. Diabetic foot clinic and clinic of reconstruction of the extremities cooperate with the department of Orthopaedic Surgery so that minimize the rate of amputation. Using the perforator free flap, coverage of the soft tissue defect caused by the diabetic ulceration is attempted and this eventually contributes to the enhanced rate of limb salvage.

Like this way, department of Plastic Surgery, University of Ulsan College of Medicine, Asan Medical Center has made continuous evolution since it began. During the relatively short 30 years, our department has made progress so that many domestic and foreign medical faculties hope to have a chance to see and work together with us.
